Kate L. Auerbach is an associate focused on representing health care providers in regulatory and transactional matters, including start-ups, buy-ins and buy-outs, hospital-physician relationships, risk management, professional contracts and regulatory compliance. Kate also has extensive experience in civil litigation and management-side employment law. She has represented individuals and large institutional clients in state trial courts as well as at the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination. Kate also counsels employers on issues such as state and federal anti-discrimination statutes and employee handbook questions. While attending law school, Kate worked for the Boston Police Department’s Office of the Legal Advisor, where she took part in civil service commission hearings, together with drafting legislation. During the summer of 2007, Kate was a legal clerk for Partners Healthcare System’s Office of the General Counsel, where she assisted in defending MCAD claims and responding to patient care concerns. Kate also worked part-time at Cooley Manion Jones, LLP and served as a student Assistant District Attorney at Boston Municipal Court, representing the Commonwealth at arraignments, bail hearings and revocations, and trials. She was admitted to the Massachusetts Bar in 2008 and is also a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Boston Bar Association Employment Law Section, and the Women’s Bar Association. In her free time, Kate enjoys spending time at Fenway Park cheering on the Red Sox, perfecting her digital photography skills, and playing with her daughter. |
